Amber and Gill have wanted to open their own café ever since they were married. They love to eat and entertain people.
GILL MEDINA
Gill delights in interacting with people and because most of his closest friends were older, he wanted to support them, whether by encouraging them to go for walks or assist them with home improvement tasks to make their daily activities more fulfilling.
Gill’s interaction with each of them was natural and spontaneous. He is a United States Marine Corp veteran and retired from a career in the Postal Service.
AMBER MEDINA
Amber spend her summers and holidays with her grandparents at an early age. Amber eventually cared for her grandma in her own home. These experiences resulted in her developing a strong bond with many seniors throughout her life. Then, over time, she claimed a few as her own by adopting them.
She has prepared a menu and hung it on their refrigerator every week for as long as she can recall. Amber’s grandfather spent over 30 years as the executive chef at the California Hotel in San Bernardino, CA, and it was her that she first developed her passion for cooking.
Grandy’s Desserts &
Grandpa Ray’s Tidbits
Amber and Gill have wanted to open their own café ever since they were married. They love to eat and entertain people.
GRANDY’S DESSERTS
Two things have remained consistent in Amber’s life for as long as she can remember (other than her parents themselves)—her mother’s Christmas cookies and her father’s extensive vocabulary. Her mother used to bake dozens of sweets for her friends and neighbors every Christmas when she was a child. She baked continuously for what felt like weeks, packing Tupperware and big boxes of cookies spread across their kitchen table. She would then wrap them up in pretty bags and give them as presents to everyone she knew. Grandy’s Desserts is the result of our decision to include her passion for baking and creating delectable delights in our business.
GRANDPA RAY’S TIDBITS
Her father has a passion for words, never-ending wit, and undeniable charm. He became a multi-faceted member of our family-run company as our Jack of Many Trades. He still finds time to cover all the entering Tidbits to read each week despite assisting in the cooking and delivering of meals. He keeps us informed of the past, present, and everything in between. Check out Grandpa Ray’s tidbits now.

Our Beginnings
Chuck and Marsha
It all started with our good friends and neighbors Chuck and Marsha. Both individuals are in their 70s and experiencing some health and mobility issues. No matter the time of day or night, we have always been here for them if they have any needs. After several times helping Marsha up from a fall, she mentioned that a home-cooked meal would be nice once in a while. They had been eating fast food and frozen meals for several years because it was convenient and easy. So, in November 2020, we devised a method that let them select their own meals from the menu. They increased their frequency of consumption from twice weekly to six times weekly. In February 2021, Gill contacted some of his former senior postal customers and friends who he believed could benefit from wholesome, home-cooked meals. We quickly found ourselves preparing and delivering numerous meals from our home after they started telling their friends, who in turn told their friends. We identified a need and are addressing it. By July 2021, we had a commercial kitchen, a business license, and a health permit. Since then, our growth has been exponential, serving our wider network of family and friends the same fresh and delicious homemade meals. We truly love and appreciate all of those who stood by us along the way; you are our heart.
We Support Local Businesses
We know how hard it is for small businesses to be successful. So, we support other local businesses, share their services with others, and purchase from them.
We support the Elks and everything they stand for. We back their Purple Pig Program, which tackles the unmet needs of kids with disabilities by creating a program of supportive services to help these kids without charging their families any money.
We have faith in the future of our neighborhood, and we encourage girls on their path to success. In fact, according to Girl Scout studies, 53% of female business owners and entrepreneurs are also former Girl Scouts.
